Facial Fillers
Everyone develops facial wrinkles and soft tissue loss as they age. During the process of aging, we tend to loose our youthful facial fat and soft tissue. This process is called soft tissue atrophy, and it is one of the most prominent signs of the aging face. There are many procedures available for the treatment of this soft tissue atrophy. The focus of facial fillers is on replacing what the skin has lost with a variety of available filling agents. The most common areas treated are the lips, cheeks, under the eyes, corners of the mouth, nasolabial folds (area between the nose and the side of the mouth), and frown lines. The physicians of RENU use topical creams, ice compresses, and local anesthesia to reduce any discomfort. There may be some bruising and a bit of swelling after the procedure. For most patients, these side effects are minimal and they are able to resume normal daily activities the same day as the procedure.
Hyaluronic Acid fillers - Restylane®, Juvéderm™, Perlane®, Puragen™.
Hyaluronic Acid is a natural substance that exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin by filling the space between collagen and elastin fibers. The role of hyaluronic acid in skin is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding in water, and to act as a cushioning agent. By attracting and retaining water like a sponge, hyaluronic acid increases the skin's density and volume. There is no allergy testing required. You may experience minimal local bruising and redness. The results last 6-12 months depending on the filler.
Calcium Hydroxy-lapatitie - Radiesse® and Radiance®
Calcium Hydroxy-lapatitie - Radiesse® and Radiance® are dermal fillers that are FDA approved for the correction of facial lines and wrinkles such as nasolabial folds. Made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel, it has a milky white color and a thicker consistency than the hyaluronic acid fillers. These fillers are the ideal agents for the cheek and midface areas, the nose, as well as the chin and the jaw-line. Their firmer consistency makes it typically unsuitable for lip augmentation. There is no allergy testing required, there is moderate local bruising and redness, and the results last 8-12 months.

ArteFill®
ArteFill® is the first and only FDA-approved non-resorbable injectable wrinkle filler for the correction of facial wrinkles, known as smile lines. The unique plexiglass microspheres in ArteFill are not absorbed by the body and provide the permanent support your skin needs for long-lasting wrinkle correction. ArteFill is only recommended for the nasolabial folds. ArteFill does require allergy testing as it contains bovine collagen. There is moderate local bruising and redness and the permanent results for ArteFill appear gradually over 2-3 months as the product stimulates collagen production. There have been reported cases of reaction with lump formation around the injection site and therefore many of the temporary fillers are still considered a better choice.

Collagen occurs naturally in the skin and helps keep your skin firm and defined. As you get older, the collagen and elastin fibers in your skin break down, and skin becomes less supple, developing lines and wrinkles. A collagen injection supplements your skin's own collagen and smoothes out wrinkles, lines and scars. Allergy testing is not required for Evolence, there is minimal bruising and the duration is proven to last through 12 months.
Fat
Fat can be harvested with minimal discomfort from the hip as an office procedure. This is done with a needle and requires no incisions, The fat can then be injected as a filler agent to treat the facial atrophy. There is no allergy testing required, there is minimal local bruising and redness at the harvest and injection sites, and the results last 8-12 months.
